New Rail Pass Makes Japanese Ski Safari Easier

JR (Japan Railways) has launched a new regional pass for the Tohuku and South Hokkaido region which should make it easier for skiers to get around Japanese ski areas if they want to explore – the company also owns and operates several leading Japanese ski fields.

The new JR Tohoku-South Hokkaido Rail Pass, which costs about 19,000 Yen (£145) for a teenager or adult, allows holders to make unlimited journeys by train in the areas covered by both companies.

Operating a ‘Flexible 5-day’ system, the pass allows the holder to travel on trains on any five days of their choice during a 14-day validity period.

Some of the famous Japanese resorts accessible include with the pass include Zao Onsen, Bandai Resorts and Appi Kogen (Morioka Station) in Tohoku and Niseko (Kutchan station),  Kiroro, Furano and Rusutsu in Hokkaido.
