When the sounds of funk and blues ring out from the bars and streets of St. Anton it’s time to groove again at the famous Austrian resort’s “New Orleans meets Snow“ Festival, which is back for its third year and runs from this Friday 8th to Sunday 10th April
The highlight of the 2016 line-up will be the “Blues Night“ on Saturday evening, with the Markus Linder Blues Band and star guest Les Getrex from New Orleans, ex guitarist from R&B legend, Fats Domino.
The unique three day festival for soul, funk and jazz lovers will see skiers and boarders getting into the groove at live street concerts, various St. Anton establishments and even on the slopes – from early morning until late at night.
Venues will include the top terminals of the Galzig and Rendlbahn cable cars, the ARLBERG-well.com concert hall and popular bars and restaurants in St. Anton. The whole Tyrolean village will be swathed in New Orleans style on Friday and Saturday from 3pm onwards with a marching band, trumpets, saxophones and plenty of rhythm and dance.
Les Getrex, the main act on Saturday night, is the ex-guitarist and band leader for Fats Domino – who achieved a number of worldwide hits in the 50s and 60s with Blueberry Hill, ‚Jambalaya and I’m Walkin. He will be firing up audiences again during his guest performance together with the Markus Linder Blues Band. The Blues Night begins at 20.30 hrs in ARLBERG-well.com, admission is free.
