The ever improving integration of the various Courchevel base villages will continue next winter with the opening of a new gondola lift with ten-seat passenger cabins between Le Praz, the lowest and most traditional village at 1300 metres, and the Courchevel 1850 area above.
The new lift will arrive close to the upper station of the Tovets chairlift.
The lift’s base station will be a major facility in itself incorporating the village’s branch of the tourist office, a children’s play area, as well as a lift pass sales desk and a kitchen with bar facilities.
There will also be function rooms, 120 ski lockers, a children’s play area, public toilets and a much-needed 500 space underground car park.
Nick Morgan, MD of Courchevel’s largest tour operator, Le Ski, said, “Every year this incredible ski resort somehow manages to improve its lift system. The new bubble from Le Praz will end the queues once encountered and make a quick ski down there much more enjoyable.”
The roof of the building will be used at the finish area when the resort hosts races in the 2023 Alpine Ski World Championships along with its neighbour Meribel.
