Delta will launch new routes from Heathrow and Amsterdam to Salt Lake City next winter 2016/17 and Monarch have announced a new route to Lapland as part of a 240,000 seat expansion of their winter service next season.
The direct flight to Salt Lake is big news for UK skiers and snowboarders travelling to Utah, famous for its light, dry powder snow and home to several world famous resorts including Alta, Deer Valley Solitude, Powder Mountain, Sundance and Snowbird as well as the new biggest ski area in the US, Park City Mountain (thanks to its amalgamation with the former Canyons ski area).
Many of these areas are very close to the airport so you can be on Utah’s slopes in little more than an hour after landing. Tour operators are already taking fly-drive ski holiday bookings.
““We’re delighted to be able to offer this fantastic new service to our customers for next winter,” said Ski Independence Product Manager, Nick Laver, “Utah has a massive array of world-class resorts to choose from, and transfers are quick and convenient too – Park City (pictured above) is only 45 minutes’ drive from Salt Lake City!”
Delta’s Heathrow to Salt Lake City route will depart 3 times a week at 11.30 and arrive in Utah at 15.40, with the return flight departing Salt Lake City at 15.05 and arriving back in London at 09.30 the following day. All passengers will have access to on-demand in-flight entertainment and Wi-Fi on-board and it’s possible to upgrade right up to the Delta One cabin with full flat-bed seats and a range of personalised dining options.
In addition to the new Heathrow flights, Delta will also be running daily direct flights from Amsterdam to Salt Lake City, adding more flexibility for regional connections. Links are possible from Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds Bradford, Inverness and more regional airports which may be better connected to Schipol than Heathrow.
Meanwhile Monarch have announced the airline will also be operating a new scheduled route to Kittila, Finland from London Gatwick and Manchester with an extended range of Lapland holidays available through the tour operator. Flights from both airports will run twice weekly and tickets will cost from £89.
