If you are looking for a place to relax, recharge, and reconnect with nature, with ski-in, ski-out access to a fabulous ski area, look no further than MyArbor, a treehouse hotel nestled in the peaceful pine forests of Italy’s South Tyrol.
“Treehouse hotel”? Well yes. It’s not quite a hotel up a tree, but a building designed to blend perfectly with the natural world around it. The wood in the design makes you feel at one with nature and at peace as soon as you arrive. It is not your ordinary treehouse, though, it is a treehouse with a twist.
From the moment you walk into MyArbor, you will feel at peace with yourself. The hotel has everything just right. They know how to create an atmosphere of tranquillity and inner peace that will soothe your soul. The use of wood in the design envelopes you in every aspect, making you truly feel at one with nature.
A big part of the unique experience of tranquillity and inner peace that MyArbor delivers is that it’s an adults-only hotel, although peaceful pooches are permitted. There’s also an incredible spa and wonderful dining options, all delivered by an attentive hotel team, to keep you feeling perfectly pampered.
Ski-Out
One of the big attractions for skiers staying in MyArbor is the sensational Plose ski area, part of the vast Dolomiti Superski network, but a hidden gem in its own right.
A mid-sized centre with nearly 50km of runs, you could be forgiven for thinking this is just one of dozens of similar centres across the Dolomites, but Plose is special, not least because it has a remarkable 1500 metres of vertical – huge for an area of this size, it’s also home to one of Italy’s longest, fastest and most exciting advanced ski runs: Trametsch.
And the creation of a special ski run means you can ski-in/ski-out from the hotel to the slopes.
Although the Trametsch trail is the big attraction for good skiers, there’s a great range of pistes for all abilities and the sensational views for which The Dolomites are famous. There’s predominantly novice and intermediate-rated trails for first-timers. With much of the terrain south-facing it’s also a great choice for sunny sloped lovers. Plose also boasts a fast, comfortable modern lift system and is uncrowded during the week with lift queues almost unheard of, and it also offers below-average prices, especially in low season.
Experts will also find some nice off-piste terrain when the snow is abundant and can ever reinforce the love of trees that’s the key theme of MyArbor by freeriding through the trees from the summit of Gabler.
Off the slopes, Plose is also home to the great toboggan run, the 9km long ‘Rudi’s’ and some beautiful winter walking trails.
Plose-Brixen is close to a number of ski resorts, the largest Val Gardena, half an hour away, with 180km of slopes.
But most guests just choose to have a fun and relaxing day in the snow, and then return to the hotel for a cosy and comfortable night.
Spa-In
The hotel‘s Spa Arboris, which expands over a huge 2,500 m², is a major attraction which many guests come to experience, along with the wonderful food and just the feeling of escape into nature, without even thinking of going out skiing.
It features four saunas, as well as an indoor and an outdoor pool. You can enjoy a variety of treatments and massages, or simply soak in the warm water and watch the sunset over the mountains.
We are in the German-speaking part of Europe though so for us prudish Brits it’s worth being aware that you’re expected to be fully naked in the spa, which comes as a shock to some.
It’s not just skiing and the spa though (along with the wonderful food, of which more later), there are also great winter hiking paths all around with personal trainers available to advise a fitness plan for you, if you want to leave feeling more energised still than when you arrived.
There’s also the wonderful small local town of Bressanone/Brixen, located 5km away, to visit. It’s a fabulously atmospheric mountain community with beautiful buildings and some great local shops and cafes to explore.
Fabulous Rooms
Back in MyArbor, the wood-filled rooms have a super view of the mountains, a balcony and a sofa-viewing chair to maximise the scenery and watch the sunset in the pool.
The rooms are spacious, elegant, and cosy, with all the amenities you need.
You also have to option to upgrade to one of the hotel’s amazing suites, including the remarkable 100 m² Treetop Suite which boasts an outdoor whirlpool with views out over the treetops to the south, and its own private sauna too.
Wonderful Food
Given how well every aspect of the hotel has been considered and delivered, it’s no surprise that the food is delicious and local. After your welcome aperitif on arrival at the hotel, there’s a changing menu every day serving regional dishes and ingredients sourced from the area.
Breakfast begins at 7.15 am and continues in one form or another through to noon, when the lunch period begins, continuing right through to 7 pm, then it’s time for dinner. In other words, you can eat each meal of the day whenever you like.
There’s an incredible 7-course dinner menu on the My Arbor Classic menu and you also have the choice to dine in town if you like, with a free choice of meal at the hotel’s won Grissino Restaurant in the city centre of Bressanone.
Great Team
A family-run treehouse hotel, MyArbor’s staff are amazing, attentive, and always available to help. They will make you feel welcome and pampered, and there’s a digital concierge service that makes everything easy and convenient.
MyArbor is ideal for a short break, where you can enjoy skiing, spa, good food, and wine. You can come home recharged after your bliss stay. This is a treehouse hotel with a twist, and you will love it.
