After the long hot snowfall in Europe, the weather is finally improving and a second spell of September snowfall has brought more significant cover to glaciers.
Hintertux, pictured on September 26th, is the only ski area that has managed to stay open through the summer. It’s now been joined by fellow Austrian resort Solden and Switzerland’s Zermatt has also re-opened. Several resorts in Italy are also open already and Les 2 Alpes and Tignes are due to join them in mid-October.
Snowfall was also reported over a wide area with Grandvalira in the Pyrenees in the southwest of Europe and Jasna in Slovakia in the northeast also reported.
