Atout France introduces its new representation of MGM Hotels and Residences, promoting a new
generation of luxury accommodation in the French mountains.
Atout France, the France Tourism Development Agency, is delighted to welcome on board French luxury management company MGM Hotels and Residences as an affiliate member, adding an exciting new dynamic to the forthcoming ski season.
The affiliation follows MGM’s addition of three new prestigious residences to its portfolio in 2018, all scheduled to open on 22 December.
Hotel and Residence Alexane in Samoëns boasts 32 apartments and 33 suites, and is the first MGM property to boast its own restaurant, ‘Fabio’, serving Italian cuisine as a nod to nearby Aoste.
Samoëns has maintained its authentic village charm and is equally sporty and relaxing, offering a ran
ge of activities and facilities designed for all ages.
Residence Anitéa nestles at the heart of Valmorel ’s pedestrianised village and comprises 40 self-catering spacious and light apartments and a cosy lounge bar. At this Famille
–
Plus certified, ski-in ski-out resort, guests enjoy outstandingly easy access to the Grand Domaine’s 165km of pistes.
Les Chalets Éléna in Chamonix-Les Houches has 49, conveniently close to the resort’s shops and
looking across the towering peaks of the Mont Blanc massif.
All new hotels and residences also benefit from a 1,000-square-metre wellness centre with Montagnes du Monde spa, comprising new equipment such as sensory showers and Nordic baths, massages using Alpine fir oils, wraps using Alpine mud, chromotherapy relaxation areas and cosmetics made with edelweiss.
In addition to a concierge service to make holidays hassle free, MGM also puts on a programme of cultural events at its residences, including art exhibitions, jazz nights and shows for children. The residence lounge bars offer the intimacy of a chalet and the comfort of an open fire on winter nights.
MGM has been building sustainable accommodation in the French Alps since 1963, with a total of
30 mountain residences – containing over 8,000 spacious apartments – to date. The company painstakingly selects its sites with respect for the natural environment, and uses locally – sourced materials such as roofing slates and dressing stones or wood for the structure, cladding and interior choices.
Technical choices follow the same logic, notably for heating, which relies largely on renewable energy and all appartments are furnished with the latest modern equipment.
A number of other residences are under construction: Résidence Amaya in Les Saisies is set to open by Christmas 2019, while Roc des Tours 2 in Le Grand-Bornand and Résidence Alpen Lodge in La Rosière are scheduled for delivery by Christmas 2020.
MGM apartments are available to rent and often to purchase off-plan on a leaseback basis when construction is first announced. The leaseback property buying scheme was introduced by the French government in 1967 to encourage investment in tourist destinations and increase France’s supply of quality tourist accommodation. Under this scheme, buyers purchase a freehold furnished property in a MGM residence, which is then leased back to the company for a minimum period of nine years. Buyers are entitled to are fund of the 20% VAT paid on the purchase price and owners are guaranteed a rental income and benefit from a set number of weeks of personal usage each year.
