Mayrhofen in the Austrian Tirol has created a new attraction on its slopes this season.
The Funslope Ahorn contains three areas with different challenges for skiers of all ages and abilities. Over its 650m length it offers waves, High Fives, Low Fives, basins and steep turns, children and beginners can improve coordination and motor skills that are needed on the slopes.
“This isn’t about speed or looks, it’s all about pure fun,” said a resort statement.
Taking elements from terrain parks and boarder cross courses, the slope, which is flawlessly prepared every day, is in fact very gentle and the waves, steep curves and basins are designed in a way that they can actually be navigated by any winter athlete – from skiers to snowboarders, whether beginner or advanced.
Skiers and boarders access the upper part of the Funslope through an entryway and are immediately confronted by waves with archways and simple banked curves leading to steeper curves. The central part of the Funslope is a bit more challenging with s series of waves before the chance of a short breather at a photo point before the chance to jump and ski in a basin for an extra shot of adrenaline. The final Funslope section in the lower part takes you through a unique forest environment.
