New designs for Aspen Snowmass’s 2015-16 lift tickets have been featured by high fashion magazine Vogue in the USA.

The reason is that the artwork on the lift tickets have been designed in Japanese graphic art  by fashion artist Takashi Murakami.  Murakami’s designs, which include smiling flowers and a dog on a hilltop, as part of a programme called ‘Art in Unexpected Places’ which has been running for 10 years as a joint venture between the famous Colorado ski town’s lift company and art museum.  The programme has had lots of other outlets over the past decade including artistic installation on the slopes.

“I first learned of the name Aspen when I learned of the solo exhibition Mark Grotjahn held at the museum,” Murakami told Vogue, “I like the way it sounds when spoken aloud and thought it was a fine name for a town.”

Aspen Snowmass’s season runs from November 26th to April 17th 2016.
