Already well known for its beginner and family-friendly facilities and services, Les Menuires in Les 3 Vallées has still more new initiatives this winter to make it even more appealing.
These include an all-new family ski pass which allows the whole family to ski at the children’s price of only €188 (£160) for a six-day Les Menuires/Saint Martin de Belleville ski pass based on two adults with two children aged 5 to 17 years.
New activities include an “Igloo Experience” adventure for children every Wednesday. Ski instructors take children on a nighttime adventure expedition with 15 minutes of snowshoeing with a head torch to reach base camp, where everyone gets stuck in to building an igloo. When they’ve finished, the budding little Eskimos take a seat in their winter shelter and enjoy a reviving cup of hot chocolate.
Les Menuires has been awarded the French government’s Famille Plus label and has specially designed areas for families and beginners with separate runs and tailor-made stays.
This winter, Les 3 Vallées have marked some runs with an “Easy Rider” label showing beginners the way to wide runs and gentle slopes that let you enjoy the snow in safety.
Among the first to get the label at Les Menuires is La Montagnette, a very gentle green with a 400m vertical drop down to the resort centre. For more confident skiers, Le Bouquetin is a blue run to descend at your own pace from La Pointe de la Masse at 2,800 metres down to the resort (almost 1,000 metres drop).
SEVABEL (Les Menuires’ lift company) has invested 19.5 million euros over the past two years just to endeavour to ensure that beginners have a fantastic time. LesMenuires.com
