La Plagne is planning some very different attractions for skiers this Easter when its unusual Subli’cimes’ festival takes place from 5 – 18 April.
Subli’cimes sees six different themed areas at the top of six different peaks above La Plagne. Access to all is free to lift pass holders and the venues are accessible to non-skiers too.
This year’s attractions will include jacuzzis and five-seat barrel saunas, tai chi, qi gong, sophrology and yoga at the ‘Zen Altitude’ themed Arpette (2,385m)
For thrill-seekers: There’s be a 10-metre long waterslide to whizz down on rubber rings and a 15-metre long giant ball ‘Wipe Out’ course at the ‘Adrenalin’ themed peak of Roche de Mio (2,700m).
For history-lovers ‘The Viking’ themed Grande Rochette (2,505m) will recreate a Viking village atmosphere: visit booths and a large tent, decorated with a longship on a sea of snow. Visitors will be able to watch warrior combat demonstrations and indulge in archery and javelin initiation (subject to snow conditions), games to test strength and traditional Viking games of Mia and Talbut.
There’ll be entertainment for all ages at the ‘Enchantment’ area on Fornelet (1,970m) where visitors can ride a mini snow-train ‘lost’ in the mountains and enjoy surprises and sweets from the snow fairy.
There’s plenty of pampering at ‘Beauty and Nature’ on Bécoin (2,350m) which will include a burlesque corner on the theme of ‘Back to Nature’ and the world’s highest pop-up beauty salon and a barber shop (beard shaping and pre- and post-shave treatments) as well as Tattoo Box body painting (temporary tattoos and face painting) among its attractions.
Finally the fantasy of ‘Dinosaurs in the Ice Age’ will be the theme at Rossa (2,380m) where there’ll be a mysterious ice grotto, shaped like a giant dinosaur egg, dinosaur-themed sculptures dug into the snow and the chance to take part in fun and creative palaeontology games to find animal prints in the snow or to discover hidden bones, and see an exhibition of fossils.
