Kitzbuhel was the first non-glacier ski area to open in Europe for the 2017-18 season more than 7 months ago in October, thanks to snow farming, and it will be one of the last to close, early next month.
This despite some very warm temperatures apparently, with the mercury passing the 20C mark down in the valley, and even 15C at the top of the mountain.
Snow depths are reported to be still 50 – 100cm, but with that sort of warmth must be thawing fast and best skied in the morning.
