Kitzbuhel is the only ski area in the Alps to have opened for the 2017-18 ski season already that doesn’t have a glacier.
And it has been opening at weekends for a month already!
It used snow it stockpiled from last season then spread back out on the slopes to get its season started in early November, but now that base has been covered in fresh snow – there was 15cm (six inches) at the start of this week.
Kitzbuhel opens again this weekend on 11th and 12th November, then on the 18th and 19th weekend and then permanently each day from November 25th.
