Three British ski racers placed in the top 20 of the Hahnenkamm World Cup Slalom races in Kitzbühel today.
Competing at the biggest race weekend in the World Cup calendar, the race saw Britain’s Dave Ryding finish in fifth place, with Billy Major who had started 33rd finishing 13th and Laurie Taylor who had started 46th finishing 19th, both scoring personal bests.
Only Austria had more racers finish in the top 20 and Great Britain moved up to 10th place in the Nations Cup.
Ryding has previously scored Britain’s only ever World Cup win at Kitzbühel two years ago, as well as placing 2nd in 2017 and 2023, but was lying in joint 10th pace with Major after the first run, both finishing in exactly 51.32 seconds. However Ryding’s second run was much more successful, ultimately the second fastest, and he sat in the leader’s chair that had earlier been occupied by Taylor until his time was eventually bettered.
Ryding currently lies in 4th place in the World Cup Slalom standings, moving up two places after his Kitzbühel result.
