James ‘Woodsy’ Woods claims X Games Norway bronze, Freestyle Ski and Snowboard Champs in full swing and Tilley and Musgrave back in World Cup action this weekend
GB Park and Pipe
James ‘Woodsy’ Woods claimed his second X Games medal of the season, taking bronze in last night’s X Games Slopestyle in Norway. Another huge feat for the GB Park and Pipe skier.
Woodsy said after his podium: “To be given the opportunity to compete at the X Games and show myself and everyone what I can do, has always been, and always will be my dream. Thank-you to everyone involved and everyone who was competing, especially Oystein Braaten, the home town hero, claiming gold.”
He will now go on to compete in the Big Air qualifiers, with finals taking place on Saturday.
The GB Park and Pipe snowboarders have been in action at the Freestyle Ski and Snowboard Championships in Sierra Nevada. In the men’s Snowboard Slopestyle competition, Billy Morgan finished in a solid 7th place, progressing through to tomorrow’s finals. Matt McCormick finished in 14th place with Jamie Nicholls in 16th and Rowan Coultas in 17th place. After sustaining a back injury in training, Katie Ormerod wasn’t able to compete in Slopestyle qualification and will be out of action for around six weeks. Unfortunately Aimee Fuller had a fall on her second run, meaning she finished 14th overall and didn’t go through to finals.

British Moguls and British Aerials
At the Freestyle Ski and Snowboard Championships in Sierra Nevada, Makayla Gerken-Schofield finished in a respectable 23rd place overall in the Moguls, not quite making it through to finals. And in the Dual Moguls she didn’t progress to the latter part of the competition.
In the Aerials competition at the World Championships, British Aerial’s Lloyd Wallace finished in 20th position in qualification, unfortunately not doing quite enough to get through to finals.
British Snowboard Cross
Zoe Gillings-Brier and Maisie Potter are in action at the Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada with qualification taking place today. Finals take place on Sunday.
Delancey British Alpine Team
Alex Tilley is back in World Cup action in Squaw Valley today and tomorrow. Today sees her competing in the Giant Slalom, with the Slalom taking place on Saturday.
Over in Are, Sweden at the Junior World Alpine Ski Championships, seven members of the Delancey British Alpine Team are in action over the next few days.
Friday and Saturday sees Billy Major in action in the Alpine Combined. Then on Sunday Yasmin Cooper, Jessica Anderson and Darcie Mead compete in the Ladies GS ahead of the Slalom the following week. Also on Sunday is the Men’s team event.
British Nordic
After clocking Great Britain’s best ever Nordic World Ski Championship result in Lahti, Finland, finishing fourth in the 50km Free Mass start, Andrew Musgrave will compete in the next Cross Country World Cup in Oslo this Saturday, tackling the 50km Classic Mass start.
British Speed Skiing
Jan Farrell has been in action for Great Britain in Sun Peaks at the Speed Skiing World Cup. He finished in 9th place on Tuesday clocking a time of 158.21 KM/H and a 10th place finish on Monday.
