More ski resorts have opened in Italy this weekend in both the Alps and the Dolomites.
Among the newly opened resorts is Livigno (pictured) which has opened a fortnight earlier than planned with an 800m vertical.

Madonna di Campiglio and Cimone have also opened, the latter with a 1.2m base, the deepest in the country at present.
Big name resorts that are open already include Cortina (40cm base) and Cervinia (10-110cm base) as well as the Passo Tonale glacier.
