InTheSnow have launched a reader holiday on Canada’s Powder Highway with Emily Sarsfield in what’s going to be an epic week of skiing with the British number one ski cross athlete.

Teaming up with Kicking Horse Powder Tours, we are offering an adventure packed ski trip on Canada’s Powder Highway that is the real deal – you’ll get to ski some of the best terrain Canada has to offer and ski with one of Britain’s most talented athletes.

Spanning the resorts of Kicking Horse, Lake Louise and Revelstoke, the trip is open to all levels from Intermediate (confident on all red runs) to experts looking for powder snow adventures. There are two options available:

Resort Rider – for intermediate skiers looking to get the most out of groomed trails and perhaps dip in and out of the ‘side-country’ powder snow. You’ll be guided by your Kicking Horse Powder Tours host and get to ski with Emily throughout the week.

Adventurer – packed full of action in search of the best powder snow conditions in resort and out in the backcountry. Adventurers will also benefit from the ‘Big Mountain Centre’ instructors who’ll get you into shape on day one. You’ll also have a fully qualified off-piste ski guide and of course get to ski with Emily through the week.

All transportation throughout your stay, fully catered on mountain boutique lodge accommodation at Vagabond Lodge, Kicking Horse, in resort guided skiing with KHPT, all lift passes at KH, Lake Louise & Revelstoke, 1 day of ‘Big Mountain’ riding skills coaching with BMC at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort (adventurer only), 5 Days of Guided off piste backcountry skiing with ACMG ski guides (adventurer only), an evening snow mobile expedition with dinner at a remote mountain camp, 1 day of Heli skiing with Purcell Heli Skiing available as an upgrade, exclusive small group trip with a max of 20 guests.

Accommodation & Food

Vagabond Lodge is a fantastic boutique hotel very near to the main lifts and base area at Kicking Horse. A beautiful timber framed building, it offers extremely comfortable accommodation over three floors. A large entrance area leads to the main lobby, with TV area and pool table. Stairs lead up to a huge open sitting area with open fire, bar and dining area and up onto the first floor with sleeping accommodation located to a further upper level. All rooms are very nicely furnished and have private bathrooms.

Food wise you won’t go hungry. Breakfast, featuring fresh baked fruit scones, fruit pancakes, home-made bread, hot and cold cereals, farm fresh eggs and home-made yogurt will get you set up for your ski day. If that’s not enough to keep you going lunch is also included every day.

Home-bakes Cookies are set out in the afternoon and post skiing, après-ski munchies are set up around the Bar area.

Dinner rounds off the eating day with a fantastic three course meal with wine.

Please note that one evening at the Lodge is left free for guests to enjoy dinner any one of KH’s fantastic local restaurants.

The Skiing

Resort Rider

Your in-resort skiing throughout the week will be in the company of KHPT resort guides, showing you the best places to ski in KH, Lake Louise and Revelstoke, whilst ensuring you find the best snow conditions on the mountain, with a mixture of on and off-piste skiing filling your skiing time. Emily will be skiing with you during the week so get ready to pick up some pro skier tips.

Adventurer

Skiing in the company of Kicking Horse Powder Tours and hosted by Emily Sarsfield, Team GB skier, Eurosport presenter and Level 4 BASI instructor, the trip is set to offer heaps of intensive big mountain skiing experiences along with lots of opportunity to ski with the best the GB has to offer.

The trip starts with one day of Big Mountain Skills Training with the BMC – Kicking Horse’s Big Mountain Skills Coaching School. Here you will fine tune your all-mountain skills, skiing and riding the inbound chutes and steeps at KH with one of their top CSIA coaches.

After that it’s all systems go as you are guided in off piste and backcountry terrain in the company of fully trained ACMG ski guides – led by Scott Belton of Adrenalin Descents Ski Guides. You are all set to get the best powder skiing experiences out there!

During the week you will have the chance to ski in-resort as well as away from resort areas at Kicking Horse, Revelstoke and Lake Louise

Mid-week there will be an evening of snowmobiling and dinner at a remote backcountry camp.

Trip Requirements & Conditions

Resort Rider – Skiers & snowboarders will need to be of an intermediate level and must be capable of skiing red and black runs and might have some powder skiing experience.

Adventurer – Skiers and snowboarders will need to be of an advanced level and must capable of skiing black and double black runs and have extensive powder skiing experience.
