Ski travel agents Iglu Ski are aiming to make the environmental efforts of ski accommodations and resorts more apparent to skiers and boarders by auditing their website to highlight those working hardest to reduce carbon emissions.
New for winter 23/24, a green leaf will appear on the company’s website clearly by each resort and hotel who have passed Iglu’s test to be graded as environmentally-friendly.
Iglu report continued interest from guests in non-flight options to get to the mountains. In order to test possible options, Iglu’s MD, Simon McIntyre, chose to drive an EV from his home in the south of England to Val d’Isère in April 2023.
On Iglu’s website, resorts will be flagged for making a commitment to reduce carbon with an environmental charter; accommodation providers will be flagged for reducing waste and promoting recycling, lowering non-natural energy consumption and supporting local businesses rather than sourcing products from a distance.
