Heavy snowfall in the Alps has been reported over the past past 24 hours.
The snow is expected to keep falling for the rest of this week with some high slopes expected to see storm totals of over a metre (3.3 feet) by Saturday.
The snowfall had been strongly anticipated after a mostly dry and sunny November until now.
Some of the heaviest falls so far have been reported in the Western Alps, where the French ski season is due to start this coming weekend at Tignes and Val Thorens. The snowfall is continuing east right across the Alps though.
Cervinia has reported the most snowfall so far, 50cm on its higher slopes. The picture below was taken there this morning by Marercolski Cervinia Apartments.
