Heavy Snowfall Across European Ski Areas

29 Oct 15

A band of heavy snowfall is been passing across Europe and has been depositing some serious snow accumulations in some areas.

Resorts in France, Italy, Austria snd Switzerland have all reported good snowfalls.  Italy’s Sestriere is pictured above this morning, October 29th.

It’s the fourth wave of snowfall since September raising hopes of a good winter ahead – so long as they keep coming!

Resorts that are already open including Solden in Austria and Zermatt in Switzerland reported more than 20cm of fresh snow overnight.

There’s also been significant snowfall in the Pyrenees for the first time this autumn.  Here’s Grandvalira in Austria last night.

And across the Atlantic the first ski areas in the Rockies are due to open later today – Arapahoe Basin and Loveland (pictured below) after good snowfall combined with snowmaking there.
