Heavy snowfall has been reported across most of Europe over the weekend.
Most significant are some good snowfalls in the Eastern Alps and the Dolomites where some ski areas had seen little or no snowfall so far this winter and had been mostly relying on snowmaking.
Resorts including Arabba, Cortina and St Moritz have posted 20-30cm of fresh snow this in the past 24 hours. Livigno (pictured above) has had 30cm/a foot.
There’s also been lots more snow in the Western Alps (France and Western Italy and Switzerland) although the snow was not so needed there – even though it’s nice to have.
Elsewhere all five Highland areas are operational in Scotland again after a fortnight when some were forced to close due to extreme weather and thawing.
