Volkl Mantra 2018 Ski Review

The incredibly popular Volkl Mantra 2018 is returning for 2018 with only a design refurbishment and you know what they say – if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

We were really impressed by this ski and were surprised by its accessibility. Interestingly the Volkl Mantra is a ski that performs really well at slow speeds as well as, of course, at higher speeds. At higher speeds, we expected this ski to be hard charging and powerful, and it did not disappoint. However, the stability at low speed we didn’t quite expect, and it was nice to have a ski that you knew could support you under foot no matter what happened on the mountain.

The Volkl Mantra is a ski that you can really trust on piste, leaving you feeling confident to really push yourself to the best of your abilities.

Versatility is one of the key selling points of this ski and it did not disappoint. We found it smooth and easy to initiate off piste, with a light manoeuvrability that allowed us to really get the most out of any powder we could find. Alongside a 100mm waist, the Volkl Mantra has a full rocker profile and moderate tip and tail taper that keeps it floating beautifully across soft snow.

This is a ski perfect for an aggressive skier that really wants to make the mountain their own this winter. Titanal layers throughout keep the Volkl Mantra stable, smooth and punchy through any terrain – it will be a lot of fun for the more adventurous skier. Essentially, the Volkl Mantra is a fantastic all round ski that we would definitely recommend for the 2017/18 season.
