Our Volkl 100Eight 2019 Ski Review comes from the SIGB Ski Test in Galtür, Austria. With a 108mm waist and full rocker profile, the Volkl 100Eight is a real freeride powerhouse aimed at advanced to expert skiers who really want to explore the entire mountain without any limitations underfoot.
With a full wood core and no metal running through the ski, it’s a really lightweight option with a nice lively feel. Volkl’s 3D Ridge construction keeps the ski smooth and stable, whilst maintaining this impressive light weight.
This also means that the 100Eight has a lovely predictable flex pattern, which really gives you confidence through choppier snow and crud, even in more difficult low light conditions such as those we experienced.
This is a lightweight ski that almost feels effortless to use. It’s responsive, agile and playful, happily taking on anything you throw at it. With a flat tail and moderate taper, it’s versatility is evident, whether you are taking on powder bowls, mogul fields or groomed hard pack. It really is a joy to experience all across the mountain.
For an advanced to expert skier looking to take their freeride skiing up a notch, the Volkl 100Eight may be just the ski to try.
