THE NORTH FACE™ MEN’S DAWN TURN HYBRID VENTRIX™ MID-LAYER JACKET
Is this the best mid-layer I’ve ever reviewed? It’s a bold thought, but really it is hard to think of any garment so perfectly designed to keep you warm and dry, without adding to the weight you’re carrying, whether you’re on the groomed slopes or bouncing off into the powder.
The North Face™ seem to have thought of everything in their Dawn Turn Hybrid Ventrix™ mid-layer jacket. First off, it’s super light-weight yet delivers incredible warmth …but, crucially, doesn’t make you sweaty, it’s a super-breathable garment.
The next thing is how is fits your entire torso like a huge snug glove, the hood perfectly fitting your head but with minimal bulk so it is easy to put your helmet over it, then thumb holes in the ends of the sleeves to pull the arms right onto your hands and deep into your gloves or mitts, keeping them there however active you get.
According to TNF it’s all down to the intelligent Ventrix™ insulation technology, “…which features perforations in key zones that open with movement, allowing excess heat and perspiration to escape, while remaining closed during times of rest to retain warmth. Combined with wind-blocking WindWall™ and a durable water-repellent finish, you’ll stay protected from exposed mountainsides and light snowfalls without being bogged down by any unnecessary bulk.”
It certainly works, earning the mid-layer five star reviews.
