The Faction Collective, manufacturers of high-performance freestyle and freeride skis – designed in Switzerland, made in the EU have launched their 09/10 Faction Collective in stores worldwide. As with any creative job where a multitude of hands contribute to the final product, there is always some last minute stress. The design team at Faction can take a deep breath now, as the full range of 09/10 skis have been delivered to stores on three continents. There are new models with the Kennedy, Aria and Alias, all with progressive shapes and designs. The Kennedy, Faction’s first true freestyle ski, is narrower under foot but made with same strength and durability as the rest of the line. The Aria, the female specific companion of the Kennedy, has been praised by both team riders Kristi Leskinen, “I’ve had the opportunity to give my input on everything. Graphics, flex, size and shape – I am thrilled with the new ski! It’s exciting to have a ski built totally for girls.”, and Mirjam Jaeger talking about how she likes one ski for both pipe and slope,“it’s just the perfect ski for me!”.
The Alias, with its unique blend of a rockered tip, slight camber under foot and a more traditional sidecut, will definitely be turning heads in the backcountry all season long. The return showings of the Wednesday, 3Zero, Royale and Thirteen are not without thoughtful development and response to the call of riders and artists. Each ski has a specific design and purpose without losing versatility, durability and value. The faults in each model have been addressed and the good qualities have been left just how they are. Distribution has expanded and sales have increased amidst the constant talk of economic downturn. Faction is better than ever and ready to take on any of the challenges the corporate driven ski industry can throw at them…with style.
