German brand Falke have created a new range of SK Energizing Wool ski socks that manage to offer both cold-climate warmth with supportive muscular compression (RRP: £40) – essentially you buy them not only to match your feet size but also by the size of your calves to ensure they’re a tight fit.
Using a blend of merino wool and wicking synthetics the gradual compression promotes greater oxygenation of the musculature, the practical application of which is calf muscles which tire less easily and require less recovery time off the piste, say the company.
These have wide ranging appeal from advanced skiers pushing themselves on challenging terrain through to intermediates who are working hard to develop their technique.
