This is the InTheSnow Review of the SkiA Sweetspot Ski Trainer, a trainer that will activate your whole body, enhancing your balance skills and movement patterns in a unique and highly skiing-specific way.
What does it do?
The SkiA Sweetspot Ski Trainer was developed by the well-known ski instructor and doctor Hugh Monney. The purpose of this trainer is to find the ‘sweetspot’ of your balance in the ski boot.
How does it work?
The main component attaches onto the bottom of your ski boot and is accompanied by four different balance blocks. Green is the easiest of the bunch, for use by those just starting out with the ski trainer, followed by blue, red and finally the most difficult, which is black (you avid skiers out there should be more than familiar with this particular colour system by now).
The trainers are designed to be used with ski boots in order to limit free movement of the ankle joints and simulate more successfully the balance skills you will need when on the slopes. This requires activating your whole body as you flex and extend your legs while balancing on these blocks.
When do I use it?
Designated for use on dry land, the SkiA Sweetspot Ski Trainer can be used almost anywhere and is easy to transport due to its lightweight design. This means that while you can bring it along on your ski holiday, your training does not have to be limited to the slopes. You can use it all year round to keep up your technique at home, in the weeks leading up to your annual ski holiday to make sure you are in tip-top condition, or in the build up to a race or competition event.
