This is InTheSnow’s Salomon S/Lab Shift Binding Review from ISPO 2018.

The new Salomon S/Lab Shift Binding has been a very eagerly anticipated product in the ski industry and we were extremely excited to see it for ourselves. It’s the product of nearly a decade of in-depth research and development in close collaboration with some of the best freeskiers on the planet and is sure to change the game when it comes to backcountry ski touring.

Delivering downhill performance, touring capability and lightness, skiers can tour uphill, then easily change the binding to confidently charge big lines and stomp big air on the descent. Using a simple lever in the toe, you can easily transition from touring in a pin binding to a true alpine binding (toe and heel) with a 13 DIN for charging downhill. It is the ultimate solution for skiers looking to blend the freedom and touring efficiency of a pin binding with the power and transmission of a Salomon Alpine binding.

With MultiNorm Certification (MNC), Shift is the only hybrid binding that is compatible with all norm boots on the market (from traditional alpine boots to touring boots). Available from September 2018 in selected retailers, we can’t wait to try this binding next season!
