Sunglasses designers Maui Jim set up shop on the beach in Hawaii 35 years ago and a visit to their website will take you to blissful scenes of Pacific Island beaches, but the good news is that when InTheSnow piste-tested a pair of Red Sands shades on the slopes of Solden in Austria in October, we found they work just as well on snow as sand.
Actually when you think about it there’s a clear cross over as Maui Jim saw the need in the market for technology that could combat intense glare and harmful UV – the same sort of issue faced by sunlight bouncing back off the snow at altitude.
