This clever backpack combination from Mountain Warehouse has a large 65 litre main rucksack with a 15-litre smaller daypack that is attached to it.

If you think about it that’s a winning combination for carrying capacity and versatility when travelling on everything but the most simple A-B ski trip, or any outdoor trip year round.

Load up the 80 litres with everything you need for your trip in the single unit, then separate off the backpack when travelling by air for example with the main backpack can go in the hold.

Then once you’re in arrivals, you can reunite the two parts of your bag in to one, easy to carry pack.

Then once in resort you can again use the 15 litre daysack on the slopes, stowing your main bag for the return journey home.  Although, that said, that capacity of the big bag might come in handy for a big shop at the mountain supermarket or for helping to  carry your gear back from the rental shop.

Needless to say along with a durable construction and user-friendly design the bag(s) has/have plenty of useful features…

These include an adjustable back system to suit your height for the best fit, a weather protection cover located in a concealed pocket usually at the bottom, which folds out to protect your rucksack from rain or snow and a padded 13″ compartment to keep your laptop/tablet safe in transit.

The rucksack is also hydration compatible with a compartment specifically for a hydration pack (note that a hydration bladder is not included0, an inbuilt cable access for plugging in headphones to keeps your headphones and MP3 dry and secure and lots of pockets to keep valuables safe.

All in this bag is the ideal answer to many of the issues we face travelling to and from a ski resort and when we’re in resort. It can also be used for trips year-round of course.
