Osprey has launched a three strong range of snowsports packs – the Kode Series – designed for back country and ski touring with input from Osprey’s extreme skier Fredrik Ericsson.

The manufacturers believe that Osprey’s Kode 38 is believed to be the lightest snowsports pack, at 38 grams per litre, currently on the market. The models suited for back country skiing are Kode 22 and Kode 30, and for ski touring choose either Kode 30 [again] or Kode 38. Each pack are equipped with plenty of technical features including wet and dry compartments, keeping probes, shovels and transceivers separate from dry clothes & food. The packs have back entry access, meaning the dry compartment stays dry. The wet compartment is at the front so when the pack is placed face down in snow the dry compartment faces upwards and can be accessed through the back panel. With Kode 30 and Kode 38 models users can also access the dry compartment without taking off the pack by unhooking the harness, twisting the pack around your body, then entering the main dry compartment via a back entry zip. Thebackpanel is thermo-compression moulded with contoured shaping, preventing clothing movement The re are two options for ski and board storage available depending on terrain. Use the reinforced loops at the pack front to secure a snowboard and store skis diagonally or on the pack side. The pockets are slash style for quick access and there is a soft goggle pocket. The frame of the Kode 30 and 38 models is made from lightwire for support and easy loading. On the Kode 22 and 30 models helmet storage is via a zip away stretch-mesh panel, while the Kode 38 has an expandable helmet pocket. Available in black and Alpenglow [rust] and in small, medium and large sizes the prices range from €110/£80/NOK 1,100 for the Kode 22 model to €130/£100/NOK 1,300 for the Kode 38.
