Ridden by Freeride World Tour Champion Lorraine Huber, the Kästle BMX 115 is a tried and tested success when it comes to adventurous, big performance freeride skis.

This ski is really soft in the tip which allows for easy turn initiation and explains why it is such a popular choice for those who love to effortlessly carve down the mountain with style and power.

Not limited to the longer, cruising turns, the Kästle BMX 115 also handles short turns well, delivering good responsiveness and precision when needed.

This is all very impressive considering the 115mm waist that one might expect to become somewhat clumsy and heavy when on piste. However, due to the light weight and streamlined design of the Kästle BMX 115, it is barely noticeable on the groomers.

Where it is noticeable is on those good old powder days. This width is a dream when it comes to cutting through powder, with a great buoyancy that keeps you feeling on top of the world. The BMX 115 also has a lot of power when it comes to tackling more difficult terrain, or ploughing through crud and tough snow.

However, this ski does become slightly unstable at speed, so may not be the best of choices for those who want to really unleash their full potential when it comes to pace. It’s also not great on bumps, which is a bit of an issue if you really want a good one-quiver ski to see you through the season.

Kästle BMX 115 2018 Ski Review

For this reason, while the Kästle BMX 115 was a definite hit with our testers, it wasn’t the best option we have tried when it comes to instilling confidence across terrains. If you’re a more cautious skier that needs this extra comfort and stability, the Kästle BMX 115 might not be the ski for you.

However, if you are confident enough as it is and are able to really harness the power of this ski on piste and on powder, it will give you a great ride in return.
