There’s an awful lot of skiwear out there these days so it’s good to see a company recycling the old to create the new.
The Stratus Long Sleeve Zip Hood from Icebreaker, a company that has built its reputation and a huge global success over the past two decades on the use of merino wool sourced from one of the world’s most ancient breeds of sheep and one of the toughest, living in the extremes of New Zealand’s Southern region, features a 100% recycled polyester shell.
Inside though there’s the company’s amazingly lightweight, exceptionally warm 180gm MerinoLOFT™ in the body of the jacket, 100gm MerinoLOFT™ in the sleeves and the lining is 100% Merino wool. Unlike synthetic fillers this is a sustainable, water-resistant merino blend (featuring recycled wool content) that provides ample warmth even when wet.
Technical as well as sustainable The Stratus also features an adjustable drawcord hem to keep the wind out and two zippered pockets to keep your hands warm and store your small essentials when you’re on the move. The jacket is even machine washable and dries fast in the shade. Recommended retail price is £200
