The new Function 5 Padded Over-the-Calf Cushion sock was designed by Darn Tough with the aim of creating the perfect fusion between boot and sock. It’s one sure to appeal to ski and sock nerds alike.
Designers worked closely with boot-fitters to produce a sock with five precisely located comfort pads that diminish pressure points to give, they hope, the ultimate fit.
The five areas are:
1: Shin padding to reduce rubbing and discomfort
2: Ankle padding to protect and cushion the ankle
3: Navicular padding to protect the foot from second buckle pressure
4: First and fifth metatarsal pad cushions on the outside toe areas
5: Upper Achilles padding to protect the Achilles tendon and reduce heel lift for a better fit
The Function 5 Five is 62% Merino wool, which means it’s very warm and as Merino is naturally anti-microbial, it repels bacteria and odour too.
It’s a truly seamless sock boasting 1,441 stiches per square inch like all Darn Tough socks.
