This it our Dynastar Legend X84 2019 Ski Review from Galtür, Austria, where we were able to sample the Legend range for the 2018/19 season.
The Dynastar Legend X84 has proved it’s worth as an incredibly impressive all mountain ski, and as such it’s unsurprising that they’ve not made many changes for the coming season. A real one ski quiver for skiers who want to explore the whole mountain, the Legend X84 merges freeride and all-mountain traits for a truly enjoyable performance wherever you take it.
With Dynastar’s innovative ‘Powerdrive Free’ construction, this is a ski that packs a punch, but does so in a smooth, controlled and playful way. Combine this energy with fantastic edge grip and responsiveness, you’ve got yourself a ski that’s easy to control and has a lot of powerful potential. Meanwhile, Dynastar’s unique five-point sidecut and progressive rocker ensure increased performance throughout the ski and keep you comfortable and confident underfoot.
The Legend X84 really is a good confidence builder for someone looking to make the move from a piste ski to a more all mountain focused ski. At 84mm underfoot, it’s the perfect width for that natural step up – similar enough to a piste ski to keep you feeling comfortable, but wide enough to provide good versatility across terrains.
It’s a ski that’s very kind to you off piste and doesn’t throw you around at all – even on choppy snow it’s nice and predictable. Back on the piste, it’s impressive edge grip makes carving a joy, even at speed thanks to the stable, forgiving nature of the ski. In shorter turns, this forgiveness makes it easy to turn and it feels very light underfoot. Nice and agile in short turns, it really is a ski for all occasions!
This ski is available for both men and women and is a great value for money ski for intermediate to advanced skiers who want a fun, versatile ride.
