Choosing the Perfect Ski Sock

What’s in a perfect ski sock?  Well you may think any old ski sock will do and just pull on the same pair you’ve been storing in the attic each year when you head off skiing, but in fact the quality of your sock can make a big difference to your comfort and your skiing during your day on the slopes.

Of course having comfortable feet means you can get more out of your day, but Falke also do things like regulate the thickness of the sock which can give greater control for advanced skiers or alternatively more comfort for intermediates.

Specialist manufacturer Falke take it all so seriously they produce a range of different socks to suit different types of skier and have even made special efforts to look at any special needs for British skiers where they differ from skiers from other countries (we’re not quite sure how but that’s what they say…)

For Intermediate Skiers Perfect Ski Sock – The SK2

Falke’s SK2 Wool (RRP: £29) sock  uses 75% merino wool, a medium-knit, and zoned cushioning to ensure softness, dryness and comfort that will suit intermediate skiers in regular volume ski boots.

For Advanced Skiers Perfect Ski Sock – The SK4

For more advanced skiers, the same composition is applied to the SK4 Wool (RRP: £32) but it is a much thinner sock, that will suit lower volume boots, providing excellent contact between the foot and the liner. It’s perfect for initiating precise turns.

For Back Country Skiers Perfect Ski Sock – The ST4

If you’re heading into the backcountry then the ST4 Wool (RRP: £27) offer additional padding to the heel, ankle, and shin, plus extra cushioning across the instep to prevent pressure points during ascents.

You see, there’s more to ski socks than you might have thought.
