In 1987 Black Diamond made a conscious decision to focus their efforts and resources on hard goods; aiming to create trustworthy, progressive equipment for Alpinists was the paramount contribution they could make to a culture dedicated to the vertical environment.
“Despite that priority, the magnetic pull of apparel has always been strong; when time permitted, we would experiment with softgoods, making forays into designing clothing that was consistent with the DNA of our company and our sports,” said a company statement.
That pull has now led to the launch of a 2013 apparel line addressing the needs of Alpinists— that diverse group of climbers and skiers—that is intuitively designed and rigorously engineered in the same way that the company’s equipment is.
There are three collections within this initial Black Diamond clothing range with more promised.
Prices for the Men’s Dawn Patrol range include £300 for the Hybrid Shell, £280.00 for the Hybrid Bib, £250 for the Men’s Dawn Patrol LT Shell and £240 for the Men’s Dawn Patrol Touring Pant.
Prices are slightly lower for the Co-Efficient range, from £99 for the trousers to £130 for the hoody.
