The Black Crows Vertis 2018 is a great user friendly ski and is a very complimentary for an intermediate skier.
On-piste is where the Vertis really comes into its own. It is extremely fun to carve on and maintains impressive edge hold regardless of conditions. This ski is definitely in its element on the groomers.
It is very responsive under foot and rides edge to edge like a dream. Quick, powerful and exciting without being too aggressive, the Black Crows Vertis will leave others way in its wake.
If you’re a skier that really wants to concentrate on your speed and carving technique, this ski will do you wonders.
It is very suitable for the general U.K. holidaymaker who wants to have a lot of fun off-piste without significantly sacrificing their all mountain abilities.
The semi-cap construction allows increased maneuverability through the light tips and tails, but the solid wood core keeps the Vertis well grounded. This allows for short, snappy turns that give you control even in trees or over bumps, keeping the ski stable over various terrains.
However, where the Black Crows Vertis doesn’t feel at all comfortable is off-piste. Its 85mm waist is definitely more suited to the piste and while it does cope adequately in the soft stuff, it doesn’t thrive in the way it does on-piste.
If you’re a die-hard carver who wants to charge down the pistes with style and speed with a bit of all-mountain thrown in, the Black Crows Vertis is a solid choice. However, if you’re looking for a really versatile all mountain ski, there are definitely better options out there for the price.
