Our Black Crows Solis Ski Review comes from ISPO 2018, where we had the opportunity to take a look at the new range for 2018/19. This was a ski that immediately stood out to us.
A Chamonix-based brand, Black Crows’ heritage is steeped in ski mountaineering due to Chamonix’s extreme and often challenging terrain. Drawing on this expertise, they have created the Solis as a dedicated ski mountaineering ski that will be the perfect partner for your adventures next year.
For steep, tough, icy terrain, this is the ski you want – dependable, strong and nimble enough to get you out of any tough situations. It’s 25m radius may at first glance seem surprisingly long, but is ideal to support you in your turns in tougher terrain. 100mm underfoot, it is also sure to be a lot of fun in the powder. A titanal plate through the centre of the ski keeps it stiff and powerful, while the soft tip keeps it agile and playful enough.
At €800 it is quite a high end ski, but you are paying for the great technology you get within the Black Crows Solis. It’s the perfect ski for real hardcore ski mountaineering fans who want to rely on what they’ve got underfoot and we can’t wait to give it a go next season.
