GB Snowsport have named six promising stars in the squad for this year’s FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships in Narvik, up in the Norwegian Arctic Circle, between 5-14 March.
The junior champs will see over 600 athletes from over 50 countries compete on the world stage. The six GB Snowsport athletes will compete across all six events – Alpine combined, Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super G, Down Hill and a mixed team event.
Owen Vinter has the busiest schedule across the event competing in five individual events (Alpine combined, Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super G and Down Hill) with all other GB Snowsport athletes competing in the Slalom and Giant Slalom with four athletes competing in the mixed team event.
Vicky Gosling, GB Snowsport Chief Executive, said: “The FIS Alpine Junior World Championship is a brilliant event for next generation of athletes and provides a truly unique opportunity for our athletes to experience a multi-event environment with their teammates. We are excited to take six developing and promising athletes, who have trained hard to be in a position to represent GB Snowsport in Norway and I hope the event will act as crucial competitive experience for them.”
Olivia Foster who will compete in Slalom and Giant Slalom said: “I’m am hugely honoured to have been selected to represent GB Snowsport at the World Juniors Championships in Narvik. It will be fantastic to travel to such an amazing place and compete against the best athletes in the world in my age group. I am so looking forward to it!”
Ed Guigonnet is also excited to be competing for GB Snowsport saying: “I am very excited to have been chosen for the World Junior Championships. It’s going to be thrilling competing and comparing myself against the best skiers of my age and at the same time some of the best skiers on the World Cup circuit. And it will be a huge learning experience for the years to come”
