GB Park and Pipe skier Madi Rowlands, who is just 17 years old, has finished the 2016/17 season ranked 2nd in the Overall AFP (Association of Freeskiing Professionals) World Rankings, 1st in the Junior AFP World Rankings for Halfpipe and 2nd in the Overall Junior AFP World Rankings.
With the AFP World Rankings just released, this achievement from one of the youngest members of the main GB Park and Pipe team is hugely significant, and confirms her status as one of the world’s most exciting young female park and pipe skiers.
As GB Park and Pipe Halfpipe coach Jamie Matthew explains: “This is an incredible achievement that is hugely significant. For me this is just as important as her Youth Olympic Games medals, especially as she carried an injury in a couple of the events meaning she couldn’t perform her full run. And the great news is that we have a great deal more to bring out of her.”
Head Ski Coach Pat Sharples went on to explain: “This is a huge achievement. All freeskiers want to become overall World Champion, so to be ranked 2nd Overall (not just in the juniors) at just 17 years old is a huge deal.”
