Austria’s Schlick ski centre, located in the same valley as the famous Stubai Glacier in Tirol region and included as one of the 13 areas on the remarkable Inverness Ski Plus City Pass, has a major upgrade this winter.  A more than six decades old T Bar having a major upgrade to a state-of-the-art gondola complete with 10 passenger cabins.

The trusty old Galtalm T-bar had been running since 1961, but Schlick were looking for a year-round upgrade solution that can also service their growing summer biking business. For winter the new lift also makes life a lot easier for ski schools and beginners looking to access higher, more snow sure nursery slopes.

The new Leitner lift features 23 spacious XLine deep cabins with premium seating. With a fast speed of up to 6 m/s the trip has a ride time of around 4 minutes and the new lift a transport capacity of 1,400 people per hour, which can be increased to a maximum of 2,000 people per hour.

The new gondola is equipped with the gearless and almost noiseless, environmentally friendly direct drive developed system which results in energy savings of up to nine percent compared to older models and the elimination of all gear oils.
