Fresh Snow in the Alps As Travel Rules Eased For England

In a double dose of good news for British skiers and boarders, it’s dumping again in the Alps today as the UK Government announces a relaxation of restrictions on travel.

Travellers returning to England will no longer need to take a text a few days before returning home, and while they will still need to take a test on arrival back in the UK, the requirement to self-isolate while awaiting the result has been dropped.

Grant Shapps has tweeted that fully vaccinated passengers and under 18s will no longer need to take a pre-departure test before returning to England if arriving after 04:00 GMT on Friday. He says the same groups arriving in England will now only need to take a lateral flow test instead of a PCR test if they arrive after 04:00 GMT on Sunday.

At the same time there’s a lot of fresh snow falling in the Alps today as temperatures have plummeted since  an unseasonably warm New year’s weekend.  Zell am Ziller is pictured above, Les Menuires, which reported 20cm of fresh snow today, below.
