It has been a largely sunny week in the French Alps with most ski resorts back to fully open after the slope closures a week ago due to the high avalanche danger as a result of the heavy snowfall and other weather factors.
The sunny skies should continue for a few more days and then more snow is expected in the layer half of the week as we enter February – although so far this doesn’t look like it will be like the huge falls of January.

Not all of France has been sunny though, the French Pyrenees got a lot of fresh snowfall over the weekend with some resorts reporting up to 60cm of fresh cover.
The new Pyrenees2vallees ski area received up to 60cm of new snow over the weekend: Peyragudes (pictured top) 60cm+, St Lary 50cm+, Piau Engaly 45cm+, Val Louron 55cm+.
Already with great skiing conditions following fresh snow on the 6th January (20 -25 cm), these four ski resorts in the French Pyrenees are now in great shape: Saint Lary, Peyragudes, Piau Engaly and Val Louron.
In the Aure valley, Saint Lary with 100km of pistes, which is connected to its charming village of wood and stone houses via a cable car and a gondola, has 70 cm of snow at the foot of the slopes (1700m) and 140cm in the upper parts of the resort (2515m).
