France Says Unvaxxed Adults Can Now Travel There

The French government has tweeted a change in rules for unvaccinated adults.

They have lifted the requirement for unvaxxed adults to have “an essential reason” to visit the country, which normally receives more British skier visits than any other.

This appears to means that unvaxxed adults can now travel provided they have a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before arrival, or a lateral flow taken within 48 hours.

For fully vaccinated adults no tests have been required to enter France for some time, just evidence of vaccination.

Kids aged 12 to 18 who are not fully vaccinated, must complete a negative PCR test within 72 hours, or a private lateral flow test within 48 hours, before arrival.

Testing experts Cignpost Express say up to two-thirds of 12 to 17 year olds in England (around 2.4 million children) still have not had a second COVID jab.

Nick Markham, co-founder at Cignpost ExpressTest says the rules could trip up families heading abroad:

“As international travel reopens and lockdown restrictions are being lifted, countries are implementing their own entry requirements for arrivals. We’re particularly concerned about the rules around children, which can vary by age, vaccination status, tests required, and whether they’ve had COVID before. Our best advice is to check the rules for your destination carefully.”

His company operates more than 40 testing centres across the country including at Heathrow, Gatwick, Edinburgh, London Victoria, Reading, Belfast and Brent Cross.
