World class freeriders at their second stage in Andorra!
The Freeride World Tour started its 15th season in January 2022 with the best freeriders in the world!
The Freeride World Tour is getting ready for its 2nd stop. This stage takes place in the Pyrenees in Ordino Arcalís (AND). The playful terrain of Ordino Arcalís (AND) always offers explosive action with a mix of freestyle and pure freeride.
Already at the first stop of the tour in Baqueira Beret (ESP), the riders showed impressive runs. Winner of the Ski Men, Max Palm (SWE), performed a spectacular double backflip, the first ever in FWT history!
This year’s season opener in Baqueira Beret (ESP) featured a brand new stop and a revolutionary new format for the athletes: The cut will now be made after the 3rd stop in Kicking Horse (CAN) instead of the 4th stop as before. The best 26 riders (12 ski men, 5 ski women, 5 snowboard men, 4 snowboard women) will qualify for the last two events of the season: the FWT Finals with stop 4 in Fieberbrunn and stop 5, the legendary “Xtreme Verbier”. Only in Fieberbrunn the best-of-two-runs format applies: instead of one run as usual, each rider has two runs – only the top score counts. The evaluation criteria of the so-called runs of these extreme athletes include: Difficulty of Line, Control, Fluidity, Jumps & Technique.
