Roger Federer and Lindsey Vonn enjoyed a tennis match in the unlikely location of the Jungfraujoch, Europe’s highest rail station 3,454m up above the ski resorts of Grindelwald and Wengen.
The ‘tennis exhibition match’ (it’s not clear how many sets were played…) took place yesterday on a specially created court while American skiing superstar Vonn’s boyfriend Tiger Woods was also in Europe, competing in the British Open.
It wasn’t just a match for the fun of it however, the Jungfraujoch has recently seen a multi-million pound makeover which includes the opening of a chocolate shop from Swiss brand Lindt, for which Federer is a “brand ambassador.”
The themed chocolate shop offers a wide range of the finest LINDT chocolate, and the adjacent Master Chocolatiers parlour gives visitors an insight into how chocolate is made.
“I never cease to be amazed by the great ideas LINDT comes up with. Today on the Jungfraujoch was a real highlight for me,” said Roger Federer.
The Jungfraujoch has year round snow and a short snow fun run served by a covered conveyor lift. It is not thought however that after Vonn played tennis, Federer went skiing.
