St Moritz will see two of its biggest equine events of the year on its frozen lake over the coming month. First there’s the Snow Polo World Cup from 29 to 31 January, and then the famous White Turf on 7, 14 and 21 February 2016.
The Cartier-sponsored Snow Polo World Cup has been running since 1985. This year, world-class players from six nations will compete in front of the magnificent mountain backdrop of the Engadin, with free entry to the lake for spectators as well as parties and gourmet food from local chefs. On 7, 14 and 21 February 2016, St Moritz will host its most daring annual event, White Turf, attracting more than 30,000 spectators to watch hair-raising horse races across the frozen lake. Between races, guests will also be able to enjoy live music, excellent food and art exhibitions. Tickets to White Turf cost from CHF20 (approx. £13.40) per adult, while children up to the age of 16 are granted free entry. The luxurious Carlton Hotel St Moritz (en.carlton-stmoritz.ch) offers Junior Suites from CHF1,300 (approx. £880) per night, based on two adults sharing on a B&B basis, including CHF100 (approx. £68) food and beverage credit per adult per day and use of the spa facilities.
