easyJet will fly from Bristol to Åre Östersund Airport this coming winter, the airline’s second route from the UK to the most popular ski resort in Scandinavia, Sweden’s Åre, and its surrounding region.
The announcement comes two years after the airline began flying from Gatwick to the airport, a route which William Vet, Country Director easyJet Sweden says has been highly successful.
Åre itself is located just an hour from the airport, but there are many other smaller ski resorts for all levels in the region. Other popular ski resorts among the swedes are Vemdalen, Funäsfjällen, Lofsdalen, Bydalsfjällen and Storlien; described as, “…ideal ski resorts for beginners and families,” by Linda Wasell of the Jämtland Härjedalen Tourism board who added,
“Although skiing is the most popular winter activity in the region it’s plenty of other activities including cross-country skiing, ice skating, snowmobile safaris, dog sledding, ice fishing, horse riding, ice climbing and paragliding.”
The new route will begin operations on December 9th alongside the existing service from London Gatwick. Fares start at £36.70 one-way, including taxes and based on two people one the same booking.
