Will Late Easter 2025 Mean More or Fewer Deals?

After arriving on the last day of March last winter, Easter Sunday will be back to one of its latest possible dates next season, April 20th, which may or may not be good news for those hoping to see lower prices as well as plenty of snow.

On the lower prices side, the argument goes that with Easter arriving so late fewer people will bother planning a ski holiday then, having already switched to summer mode, driving down demand and this prices.

On the higher prices side the arguments include…

  • Snow depths have been peaking later in recent years, in late April or early May rather than early March, so (rightly or wrongly as who knows what each season will bring?) skiers are more confident about hitting the slopes later.
  • Snow conditions in quite a few December/Januaries in recent years have been ‘sub-optimal’, again making more people consider late season rather than early …although things were fine at most destination resorts last Christmas/New Year and again, who knows what next season will bring?

Whether prices do end up higher or lower and the snow better or worse than it has been the past two Easters, the advice is, as always, to book early and the book high altitude or northerly latitude.

Indeed many lower altitude ski areas will have already closed by Easter Sunday, some before the Easter holidays even begin.

“If we have an end-of-season like the last two winters, the late Easter ski holiday of 2025 will be the best T-shirt skiing in living memory. The high resorts are booking out for next Easter first, so book now if you plan to ski one of the snow-sure ski areas. There are fewer of the cheaper resorts open, so options for the second Easter week are more limited, but this is where to find the Easter bargains,” says Richard Sinclair of ski holiday company SNO.

Dozens of ski areas do stay open to the end of April and even into May however, including Chamonix, Tignes (pictured top), Val d’Isere and Val Thorens.

In terms of date clashes with other nations, Xavier Schouller boss of French ski holiday specialists Peak Retreats commented,

“Similar to last year, the main British Easter holiday weeks fall at the same time as the French and Belgian holidays, meaning once again these will be popular weeks. As April snow conditions have been consistently excellent for a number of seasons now, we do expect these weeks to be quite busy, although significantly quieter than February half term still.”
